Shraddhatraya Vibhaga Yoga
The Yoga of the Threefold Faith
Arjuna asks about those who worship with faith but without following scriptural injunctions. Krishna explains that faith can be of three types, corresponding to the three gunas. He elaborates on the three types of food, sacrifice, austerity, and charity, based on whether they are in the mode of goodness, passion, or ignorance.
सत्त्वानुरूपा सर्वस्य श्रद्धा भवति भारत | श्रद्धामयोऽयं पुरुषो यो यच्छ्रद्धः स एव सः ||3||
O son of Bharata, the faith of all humans conforms to the nature of their mind. All people are full of faith, and whatever the nature of their faith, that is what they are.

Commentary
Krishna explains that one's faith is not arbitrary but is shaped by the influence of the three gunas on their consciousness. A person's character and destiny are determined by the quality of their faith. Essentially, 'you are what your faith is'.
